The 411 on Project 100

Project 100 is a facet of the Full Tummy Project. It was created to help raise money toward our large Full Tummy grocery bill. Did you know that the Full Tummy Project’s monthly cost for food used to be $880. That number has grown to a whopping $10,000 per month.

While this is a good problem to have, because it indicates growth, it is still challenging to raise that amount of money at times.

Our desire is to get 100 people to subscribe to donate monthly to Mighty Moms for Full Tummy. You can subscribe by going our website.

By subscribing to Project 100, you are saying…

…I believe in Mighty Moms and what they stand for.
…I want to make a difference in children’s lives.
…I want to help fight against childhood hunger in Livingston Parish.

The dollar amount begins at $10/month and goes up to $100/month in ten dollar increments. Whatever is on your heart to give is such a blessing and a huge help! Sign up to be a Project 100 subscriber today!

Food Barrel Program Progress

For the last several months, we’ve been working with our Leadership team on our upcoming food barrel program.  At present, Coca Cola has generously provided over 30 heavy-duty food grade barrels in 2 sizes, 27 and 30 gallon.

Our barrels team is working hard to prepare the barrels to drop off at locations who have been kind enough to serve as a host for donation sites.  Barrel preparation includes sawing off one of the ends to open up the barrel, drilling holes for handles, sanding down the rough edges, cleaning out the syrup, cutting rope and inserting into the drilled holes, burning the rope ends with washers to hold them in place.

We have secured approximately 10 committed locations and another 20 leads, including some regular volunteers to collect donations from the location sites.  Along with us, the Leadership group is currently seeking 50 committed locations in the Walker, Watson and Denham Springs areas, with the intent of expanding this program as we branch into other schools in Livingston Parish.  Barrel locations will be posted on our site once barrels have been delivered.

Please contact us about Partnering with Christ in the battle to end childhood hunger right here in your own back yard!

Mighty Moms: Recent News

The Advocate Feature, Google Apps, Upcoming Food Barrel Program…

First of all, Mighty Moms is so thrilled to have reached a new audience of Moms, Dads and caring individuals throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area show an outpouring of support after reading our story in The Advocate.  (Also in PDF form)  We have many areas in our ministry that need volunteers with special gifts.  You are endowed with gifts and we invite you to share your talents, you computer whizzes, shoppers, cooks, writers, and so much more.  Would you pray about what your gifts are and if you would be willing to help us in that area?  We know that God had your gift in mind when he lead you to our site and we are excited to watch HIM grow this ministry beyond our wildest dreams.

We’re so thankful for you, your time and your talents; we want to make the most of these gifts!  We’re just getting setup on Google Apps which will (hopefully) help us organize and coordinate our volunteers.  Through this, we will be adding a public calendar of upcoming events.  So you don’t miss a single thing, you can even add the calendar to your own Outlook, smartphone or Google Calendar!  We’ll be updating our contact page for specific email addresses, but first things first!  We also have some big news!

An upcoming FOOD BARREL PROGRAM is being worked out with a group of Livingston Parish professionals teamed together through the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce.  We have an ambitious starting goal of 50 barrels throughout the Denham Springs, Watson and Walker areas.  We need locations to home the barrels and volunteers to collect the food.   We will be posting more information on our site (under PROJECTS), but until then you can read about the Mighty Moms Food Barrel Program Proposal or contact us if you are interested in helping us out with this program.

Full Tummy Project Food Drive

WOW! What a great day we had on Saturday at Albertson’s for our first annual FULL TUMMY PROJECT FOOD DRIVE.

A great big thank you to KLOVE, Albertson’s, Trooper Graham and his rollover simulator, DS Marshal’s office, Christ Community Church, and ALL of our wonderful dedicated volunteers and family members who helped make this day possible. A super BIG HUG to all of you who donated food items and money to help us feed hungry kids in our community. I could go on and on about how we are still on Cloud 9…we are pumped about all the goodness that was received on Saturday.

Giving God all the glory for this food drive Saturday.. Full Tummy Project 2012-2013 is starting off with a BANG. The awareness in childhood hunger was brought to a new level, that’s for sure! There is 1 in 4 children hungry right here in our town and I know that WE can make a DIFFERENCE. Mighty Moms, partnering with Christ, and all of you…that statistic doesn’t have to stay 1 in 4 for long. This Mighty Mom is rejoicing today with a heart full of smiles and joy.

Let them (us) give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.

Psalm 107:15
