Meet Our Board

 

Dawn Birdsong

Birdsong, a founding member, handles the day-to-day operations of the organization. She is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy and attended LSU and SLU. She is a graduate of Southern Medical School of Ultrasound. She is married to Ben and they have four children. She is passionate about food and cooking for her family and friends. The Birdsongs are active members of Healing Place Church.

Beth McCormick

Beth McCormick

Beth is a founding member of Mighty Moms. She is mother to 6 wonderful kids.  Her children have experienced food intolerance and allergies. She  believes nutrition and healthy living is very important to all children. She has been a resident of Livingston Parish since 2005. Her passion and joy comes from loving on her grandchildren and giving back to the children of Livingston Parish.
Justin Wax

Justin Wax

Justin Wax, President, is a lifelong resident of Livingston Parish. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University where he also minored in Leadership Development. In addition, he holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University. He is Assistant Principal at Denham Springs High School. He is married to Micah Davies Wax, former educator. They are parents to Emma, Kate and Wyatt. They attend The Oaks Church, where Wax serves as a deacon and percussionist in the choir.

Jan Benton

Jan Benton, Secretary, is a retired educator of the Livingston Parish Public School System where she was a teacher, principal, and central office administrator for 36 years. Benton is a life-long resident of Denham Springs and a member of the 1973 graduating class of Denham Springs High School. She is married to James ‘Jim’ Benton and has two children, Hillary and Brian. They have four grandchildren. Benton serves as a member of the Livingston Parish School Board representing District 3. She is also a conference coordinator for the Louisiana Association of School Executives, a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sorority and an activemember of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She states, “I am so honored to have the opportunity to work with this great organization, Mighty Moms, and to be able to give back to the community and children of our great schools.”

Amanda Moss

Amanda Moss

Amanda Moss, Treasurer, is a Certified Public Accountant with Hannis T. Bourgeois.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from University of Louisiana Monroe.  As an associate Tax Partner, she specialized in tax preparation, planning and consulting.  Moss and her husband, Matthew, have two children.  “we chose Denham Springs as our home in 2009 because of the reputation of the community and school system,” says Moss.

Patrick Bedwell

Patrick Bedwell is another lifelong resident of Livingston Parish. He currently resides in Walker with his wife, Jessica. They have three children. Bedwell has worked for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for over 18 years. He is a graduate of LSU Basic Police Academy. A former DARE instructor, Bedwell started the LPSO Explorer Program in 2007 and has been instrumental in many other programs with the sheriff’s office. He is community minded and enjoys his leadership responsibilities.

Ryan Frith

Ryan Frith

Ryan Frith and his wife, Jessica, serve as Campus Pastors of Healing Place Church in Denham Springs, LA. Ryan has the desire to see people discover the purpose God has for their life and help them bring their purpose to life through relationship with Jesus and serving others.  He resides with his wife and two children in Denham Springs, LA.

Rebecca McDonald

Rebecca McDonald is a graduate of Denham Springs High and Draughton Business College. She was a Traffic/Inventory Control Supervisor at Vulcan Foundry before retiring after 28 years. She is married to Larry and together they have two children and four grandchildren. They attend First Baptist Church in Denham Springs. “My greatest joy comes from being with my grandchildren and serving others,” says McDonald.
